Organizational Overview

Youth Service America seeks to improve communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people, ages 5-25, serving in important roles. Founded in 1986, YSA is an international nonprofit resource center that partners with thousands of organizations in more than 100 countries to expand the impact of the youth service movement with families, communities, schools, corporations, and governments. Position Overview and Responsibilities

The webmaster will be responsible for working with the content areas of Youth Service America's websites (YSA.org, servenet.org, and ServiceVote.org). They will work with staff to add new content and approve member contributions. YSA is heavily invested in social media technologies, and so the webmaster will also work to strengthen and grow our online communities through engagement as well as the creation of new tools.

The webmaster will:

  • Manage content updates for the YSA.org and Servenet.org websites
  • Outreach to non-profit organizations helping them post updates and volunteer opportunities to servenet.org
  • Work with staff, the ICT team, and contractors on implementing new content and functional areas of the website(s).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required in web design, computer science, or information systems/design.
  • Strong knowledge HTML/CSS and javascript
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Experience with database systems (primarily SQL)
  • Familiarity with graphic design programs a strong plus
  • Experience working with and building online communities using social networking and other tools.
  • Analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills, resourceful/innovative in a nonprofit environment
  • Patience with non-IT staff
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals including adult colleagues, young people, partners, and others, while maintaining a high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity
  • Be comfortable, familiar with, support the idea of children/youth as citizens, leaders, problem-solvers, partners and equals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • sense of humor, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Compensation:
