State Farm® Good Neighbor Service-Learning grants (US and Canadian Applicants)

With generous support from the State Farm Companies Foundation, Youth Service America is offering the annual State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grant for youth-led community improvement projects across the United States and Canada (Alberta, Ontario, and New Brunswick provinces only). These grants of up to $1,000 support teachers and service-learning coordinators in engaging students (ages 5-25) to implement service-learning projects for Global Youth Service Day, April 24-26, 2009. We encourage semester-long projects that are launched on Martin Luther King Day on January 19, 2009 and extend through Global Youth Service Day.  Questions?  Please contact goodneighbor@ysa.org.  Deadline: October 15, 2008

State Farm® is now accepting nominations for the 2009 State Farm® Service-Learning Champion Award.

State Farm® supports service-learning as a teaching method that enhances the academic achievement of students while engaging in service to the community. Teachers and parents are usually the primary individuals guiding a young person’s education. Other adults often play a key role in broadening a youth’s formal education through community service-learning activities. State Farm created the Service-Learning Champion Award to acknowledge this non-traditional advocate of service-learning.

Do Something and the ASPCA have teamed up to create the best online resource out there for young people who care about animals. To kick it off we’re giving out ten $500 grants for projects about animal welfare. Deadline: Applications are due by September 30th and winners will be announced on October 13th.

Be inspired by the top 100 applicants for the Make It Your Own Awards, now competing for twenty $10,000 grants and four $25,000 grants. The Make It Your Own Awards asks people to look into their communities and find innovative ways to make a difference. Grants for youth who have initiated a community action project and need funding to help keep it going.

Do Something and GameStop are putting the fun back in funding by giving you the big bucks ($500) to get things going in your neighborhood. GameStop youth grants are available for anyone in the U.S. or Canada, 25 or under (at time of application), who has a great idea for a community action project. We could fund your bright idea!

Do you have big dreams for your community? The Case Foundation is launching a pilot grants program that could turn these dreams into reality. The Make It Your Own Awards, a new initiative from the Case Foundation, launched on June 26, is about giving grants, tools, and recognition to people who are coming together to discuss what matters, form solutions, and take action. Twenty semi-finalists will each receive $10,000 grants to start bringing their ideas to life. Four final grant recipients will then be chosen by the public using an online voting system. These finalists will each be awarded an additional $25,000 grant. Applicants must be 14 or older and the deadline for applying is August 8th.
