Last night at Operation Smile's 2008 annual Smile Event, Hasbro, Inc. was honored with the Operation Smile Corporate Humanitarian Award, recognizing Hasbro’s dedication to improving the lives of underprivileged children in this country and around the world. The 2008 Smile Event, which took place at Skylight Studio in New York City, was a black-tie fundraising gala hosted by Smile Ambassador Jamie-Lynn Sigler. The Smile Event celebrated the success of the recent World Journey of Smiles global mission, where Operation Smile volunteers changed the lives of over 4,000 children worldwide in one week. Special presenters Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr. and Maggie Rizer presented the 2008 Corporate Humanitarian Award to Hasbro, Inc.’s chairman, Alan Hassenfeld, who accepted on behalf of Hasbro and the Hasbro Children’s Fund, the company’s corporate philanthropy arm. Microsoft Corp. was also honored with the Corporate Universal Smiles Award. “Operation Smile’s programs to change the lives of children and provide training for medical professionals all over the world are made possible by the support of companies like Hasbro,” said Dr. Bill Magee, Operation Smile co-founder and chief executive officer. “Hasbro’s deep commitment to the health and well-being of children is an inspiration, and we are so grateful for their ongoing support.” “Hasbro is proud to support the work of Operation Smile and is honored to receive this recognition from a group whose work has meant so much for so many children all over the world,” said Karen Davis, vice president of community relations for Hasbro, Inc. About Operation Smile Founded in 1982, Operation Smile, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, is a worldwide children’s medical charity whose network of global volunteers are dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults.
