AZHomegrownSolutions invites you to join us for citrus gleaning to feed the homeless, help the elderly, and combat the roof rat problem in Phoenix. We will pick citrus for elderly residents who cannot do so themselves and donate the surplus to the Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development. Removing the surplus fruit from the trees will also deter the roof rats!
A WIN WIN WIN volunteer project.
AZHomegrownSolutions (www.AZHomegrownSolutions.org), a program of Resouces for Health and a chapter of Food Not Lawns, is a local grassroots effort to revive the Victory Garden program of WWI and WWII. We use this program as a model, but redefine Victory in the context of urban sustainability. "Victory," redefined, is growing food at home for increased local food security and reducing the food miles associated with the average American meal, as well as implementing other green living strategies to conserve energy and water.
