HOPE STARTS WITH US!
More than just the name of an event, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer refers to the vital progress the American Cancer Society has made in helping people survive breast cancer through its unique programs and funding of groundbreaking research. Join Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to help continue lifesaving progress so no one has to suffer from this disease.
Making Strides in the National Capital Region is a 5-mile walk on The National Mall on Sunday, October 19, 2008. Walker registration begins at 9:00 am and the walk starts at 10:00 am. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available for the day of this exciting event including participant registration, distributing refreshments, putting up banners & signs, cheerleading, event set up and more. Most volunteers will be needed somewhere between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm. Volunteers must be 18 or older or be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers will be trained when they arrive the morning of the event. Drinks and snacks will be available at the volunteer tent when you arrive. When you check in, you will receive your complimentary t-shirt, have a chance to enjoy some refreshments and then be dispatched to your location.
