The Teen Program runs during the school year for youth in grades 9-12. It offers homework assistance, tutoring, cultural enrichment, recreational activities, and other educational programs in a safe, supportive environment. Approximately 35 teens are served each year. Volunteers tutor students to develop math, reading, studying, computer skills, help students with homework, work with the teacher to assess and provide for students' individual needs, and facilitate activities such as career development and life skills. Volunteers must be in high school or have high school degree or equivalent, and should have the ability to teach basic math, reading skills, patience, and flexibility.
The program operates Mondays-Thursdays, 6:30pm-9:00pm.
Volunteer Orientation sessions are held on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 10:00am and 6:00pm. Please contact us to sign up if you are interested in volunteering.
